Interim Privacy Policy
Interim / Temporary Version • Effective May 11, 2026
This Interim Privacy Policy describes how Cancer Screen Iowa (“Cancer Screen Iowa,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit or use our website, products, and services (collectively, the “Services”).
1. What Cancer Screen Iowa is (and is not)
- Cancer Screen Iowa is an educational tool intended to help people stay aware of preventive screening guidelines and reminders.
- Cancer Screen Iowa does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a clinician for medical decisions.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in three main ways: (a) information you provide, (b) information collected automatically when you use the Services, and (c) information provided by employers when they invite people to participate (if applicable).
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information: email address, password (if used), and basic account settings.
- Profile and eligibility information you choose to provide: date of birth, and other screening-related inputs (for example, sex at birth for guideline matching, smoking history, or other items you enter to generate a checklist).
- Screening status you choose to log: planned/scheduled/completed and optional dates (for your own tracking).
- Communications: messages you send to us (e.g., support requests).
- Invites: contact details you choose to provide to invite others (e.g., email addresses), and any message text you include.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: browser type, device identifiers, IP address, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from IP (e.g., city/state).
- Log data: timestamps, error logs, and basic performance telemetry.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used for essential functionality and performance. We do not use cookies for behavioral advertising.
2.3 Information from employers (if you join via an employer program)
If your employer offers Cancer Screen Iowa as a wellness benefit, your employer may provide limited information to invite you (for example, name and work email). You decide whether to opt in and create your own account. We do not share your individual checklist responses or screening status back to your employer.
- Employers may receive only aggregate, anonymized engagement metrics (e.g., number of invitations sent, enrollments, reminder clicks, and self-attested completion totals).
3. How we use information
We use information to operate and improve the Services, including to:
- Generate and display your educational screening checklist and explanations.
- Send you reminders and service communications you opt into.
- Facilitate consent-first invitations and Care Circle features you choose to use.
- Provide aggregate reporting for employer programs (without individual health details).
- Maintain safety, prevent abuse, and secure the Services.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share information only as described below:
- Service providers: vendors who help us run the Services (e.g., hosting, email delivery, analytics). They may process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.
- Aggregate employer reporting: employers may see aggregate participation metrics only (no individual checklist or screening history).
- Legal and safety: if required by law, to protect rights/safety, or to prevent fraud/abuse.
- Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Sponsor offers and partner content
Cancer Screen Iowa may display clearly labeled sponsor or partner offers related to screening support services (e.g., transportation, childcare, wellness support). These offers are not based on behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal data to sponsors. Sponsor offers should not be interpreted as medical recommendations.
6. Your choices
- Email preferences: you can opt out using unsubscribe links in emails or through Settings (if available).
- Profile updates: you can update your inputs to refresh checklist eligibility.
- Care Circle sharing: you control what you share and can revoke access at any time.
- Account deletion: you can request account deletion through Settings or by contacting us. We delete or de-identify data promptly, subject to limited retention described below.
7. Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services and for legitimate business purposes, including security, fraud prevention, and compliance with legal obligations. Backup and log data may persist for a limited period after deletion.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No system can be 100% secure, so please use the Services with that in mind.
9. Children’s privacy
The Services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. International users
Cancer Screen Iowa is intended for users in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., you understand that information may be processed in the U.S.
