Early detection saves lives

Cancer Screen Iowa exists for one reason: to help you stay ahead of cancer through timely screenings. We believe everyone deserves a simple, private way to know which screenings matter for their age.

The Problem

Cancer screening guidelines change based on your age, but most people don't know when they should start or what tests are recommended. The information is scattered across medical journals and government websites that aren't designed for everyday people.

The result? Millions of preventable cancers go undetected because people simply didn't know they should be screened.

Our Approach

Cancer Screen Iowa takes evidence-based screening guidelines and makes them personal. Enter your birthday, and we'll show you exactly which screenings are recommended for someone your age — in plain language, without the medical jargon.

Then, once a year on your birthday, we send you a gentle reminder to check in on your health. That's it. No spam, no selling your data, no complicated health portals.

Built on trusted science

All of our screening recommendations come from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) — an independent, volunteer panel of national experts in disease prevention and evidence-based medicine.

The USPSTF reviews thousands of research studies to determine which preventive services have strong evidence of benefit. These are the same guidelines your doctor uses to make recommendations.

  • Independent panel of 16 volunteer experts
  • Appointed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
  • Reviews clinical research on preventive services
  • Grades recommendations A, B, C, D, or I based on evidence
  • No commercial funding or conflicts of interest

Your privacy is not negotiable

Health information is deeply personal. We built Cancer Screen Iowa with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought.

Minimal data collection

We only collect what's necessary: your birthday, contact preference, and screening status. No detailed health history, no social security numbers, no insurance information.

Never sold, never shared

Your data is never sold to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. We don't show ads. Our service is free because we believe in the mission, not because you're the product.

Delete anytime

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. No hoops to jump through, no waiting periods. Your data, your choice.

Common questions

No. Cancer Screen Iowa provides educational information based on USPSTF guidelines. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your healthcare provider about what screenings are right for you based on your individual health history and risk factors.

We believe that access to basic health information shouldn't depend on your ability to pay. Early detection saves lives, and we want to remove every barrier to getting screened. Cancer Screen Iowa will always be free for individuals.

We offer optional employer programs where companies can provide Cancer Screen Iowa to their employees as a wellness benefit. This is completely opt-in for employees, and employers only receive aggregate, anonymized data. Individual accounts remain free forever.

The USPSTF periodically updates their recommendations as new research becomes available. When guidelines change, we update our system and notify affected users. Each screening recommendation shows which guideline version it's based on.

Each person should have their own account. You can invite family members through our consent-first invitation system. They'll receive an invitation to create their own account, keeping their health information private and under their control.

We started with cancer screenings because early detection has such a significant impact on outcomes. Cancer caught early is often highly treatable, while late-stage cancer is much harder to treat. We may expand to other preventive services in the future.
